adyson | 5 months

this post is long, long overdue! if you can't tell by the lovely yellow & green tones from the below photos, they were taken quite a while ago. ;)

miss adyson's mama wanted to get some photos taken of her before she got too much older, so we went out early on a saturday and had some fun watching the early morning sun come up and playing in the grass. by the end of our session, however, little miss had decided she didn't want any more photos...and would look away from me, no matter how we positioned her & her mom! she's a smart little girl for sure! (and a cutie! no doubt about that one.) :)

just sayin' hey....

life has been coming at me a mile a minute lately, and I love it, but I must admit that I'm ready for a break. (and, lets face it, I've got just a slight tendency to procrastinate...which is possibly why I have a presentation due tomorrow...that isn't quite done yet.)
so! this blog post is going to be short & sweet! I have classes through Wednesday this week, but when I'm on break & bored;) I'll be prepping blog posts for the next few weeks. So I hope y'all are prepared for all the lovely faces that will be showing up on my little blog soon!

main event 2011 | personal

I've been meaning to get this post up for a month...somehow it hasn't happened. Until today! The last weekend in October, I traveled to Kansas City with about 1000 other college students to attend a conference called main event, where we spent time worshiping & learning about God, building relationships with other students from our campuses, and from schools across the midwest! It was a wonderful experience, and I'm so looking forward to next year!

Aaron & Carol | Mini-Session

Aaron & Carol.
Oh my goodness. I absolutely adore these two! Aaron and I...go wayyyy back. ;) Our fathers were doctors in Japan together when Aaron was little and I was born (and also little). haha! And its partially due to his family that we moved to Iowa (was it really 13 years ago?!) and we started getting reacquainted. Aaron & his siblings are older by just enough that we were never close friends, but I definitely adored them! And, a year and a half ago, Aaron married the love of his life, the lovely Carol!:) Everyone who knows Carol just loves her! She is the sweetest thing, hilarious, and so fun.
Sooooo, when I found out that these two were visiting back in October, I made room to meet up with them for a mini-session! How could I not? (: Check out these two lovebirds!

do you like pie? | personal

I'm sitting at my desk, sipping on hot tea while my ears are serenaded by the Michael Buble Pandora station, and I'm smelling pumpkin. Which happens to be my favorite pie, come holiday season!
What I haven't mentioned to many people is that I am planning on going to Haiti with my church in February. They sent a team last February, and since that (& seeing photos from 2 other young photographers who have gone to Haiti in the past year), I've been praying for the opportunity to go! I'm trusting that God will provide financially for me to be able to go & serve the Haitian people. There will be 3 teams, and I'm not sure what one I'll be put on (or what I'll be doing.) What I do know is that I'll be the team "journalist"--taking lots of photos and writing down lots of stories.
The other day, the idea came to me that...I can make pies! And people like pies, especially during the holidays! So, if you're interested in supporting my trip to Haiti & live in the Cedar Valley, I'd LOVE to bake you a pie or two! The three types I'll be preparing are apple, cherry, and of course pumpkin!:)

Other ways to support me, if you don't live here locally or don't like pie, would of course be just plain financial support, booking a family session before Christmas (more on that soon!), and prayer. Prayer support is huge, both prior & during my trip. I'd be humbled & blessed if you'd remember me and the rest of our team in your prayers.

Gwen | Senior Portraits | Cedar Falls, IA

Gwen is a fabulous violist (that means she plays the viola, not violin...so y'all know!;) as well as vocalist, student, actress, AWANAs teacher, creative mastermind, and all-around wonderful girl! Her session was right before sunset, but we got in as many photos as possible in the shortest amount of time. Miss Gwen is planning on furthering her knowledge at Emmaus, and I'm super excited to hear about her adventures there next year!
