Collin + Miranda | Cedar Falls Engagement Photographer

well hold on my darling
this mess is yours
now your mess is mine
vance joy // mess is mine

Miranda has been my friend since I was in high school, and I clearly remember two years ago when we ran into each other on separate coffee runs…and a boy at a table kept looking at her. ;) if you fast forward, they started dating, fell in love & became impossibly inseparable, and Collin followed Mir to Minneapolis while she finishes school. November he found the perfect ring (he was a geology major, so you can be sure he knows his rocks!) and in a matter of days, they were engaged!

luke + kayla | engaged!

i wanted to blog every single stinkin' photo from these two's session! it was such a joy to spend a perfectly golden (& buggy...that part wasn't so perfect;) summer evening with them. kayla is one of my childhood friends, and her family relocated to australia a few years ago to work with college students there. luke is australian...and his good looks paired with his dang sweet accent stole kayla jo's heart.

these two will wed january 4th in australia, and i'm so honored to be there—NOT as a photographer, but a bridesmaid!!! this will be my first time ever in a wedding party and i am SO SO SO excited! (don't worry, y'all...i'll still be taking my camera.)

if you could travel anywhere in the world this next year, where would you go? dream a little with me & share it in the comments! :)

just one image | engagement sneak peek

Life will never leave us alone,
So I'll never leave you alone.
Dave Barnes—You Do the Same for Me

I adore the fact that photography allows me to meet people—amazing, crazy cool, wonderful people. Each one is different, as is each love story & couple that I get the chance to interact with. And sometimes, you just have a feeling...that this is going to be more than a business relationship, but a friendship.

That's the bestest.

More of Alycia + Casey coming soon!

Jeff & Judy | Married Love

Many of you most likely do not recognize the two smiling faces below, but I know them very, very well. They're the first faces I recognized, the ones I am able to read in two seconds & know if everything is right or not, and typically the last ones I see every night. These two lovebirds are my parents, and today they celebrate 24 years of marriage!
Photobucket
They're amazing people. I wish that each & every one of you reading this could have the chance to know them. They are full of wisdom and knowledge and love.  Although there are days where I would have told you "my parents are dumb! they don't understand! what do they know about being a teenager?!"...they aren't. They're actually really, really smart. ;)
Photobucket
I mean, obviously. They had me for their daughter, & firstborn at that! I think that's the smartest move they've made yet! ;D

My college friends are always commenting on how sweet my parents are. It's really true! But I haven't always appreciated them like I should. However, living at home post-highschool was probably one of the best choices I could have made. Because of the past 2.5 years, I have gotten to know my parents so much better, seen more of their daily lives, watched them grow deeper in their faith, and become more comfortable in sharing my personal life with them.

In return, they've continued to show me love & grace. They forgive when I am wrong, when I act out, or don't wash the dishes. My dad puts up with my cuddles & pokes, and my mom is always there to listen & give advice.
They're wonderful, really.

[oh hai, puppies! these are our slobber-machines, Rho & Chi.]

Dad & Mom, thank you for everything you've done for our family & continue to do! You've been nothing but an amazing testament to Christ's love for His church through your marriage, and your willingness to serve is something I'm still learning. I love you both so much!
love always,
Amelia Renee:)

Aaron & Carol | Mini-Session

Aaron & Carol.
Oh my goodness. I absolutely adore these two! Aaron and I...go wayyyy back. ;) Our fathers were doctors in Japan together when Aaron was little and I was born (and also little). haha! And its partially due to his family that we moved to Iowa (was it really 13 years ago?!) and we started getting reacquainted. Aaron & his siblings are older by just enough that we were never close friends, but I definitely adored them! And, a year and a half ago, Aaron married the love of his life, the lovely Carol!:) Everyone who knows Carol just loves her! She is the sweetest thing, hilarious, and so fun.
Sooooo, when I found out that these two were visiting back in October, I made room to meet up with them for a mini-session! How could I not? (: Check out these two lovebirds!

jon&ashley | he asked, she said yes! | waterloo, ia engagement photographer

i've been saying for a while now that i've wanted the chance to shoot more couples...& so I was super thrilled to hear that ashley and jon were engaged, and they wanted me to shoot engagement photos! scooooore!
i've known ashley for about 4 years now, but hadn't seen her in quite a while--prior to early last sunday morning. which brings up the point that these two allowed me to talk them into an early morning shoot! do i have fabulous clients, or what?! (oh, and jon had just gotten off working 3rd shift...and looked spiffy, you'd think he'd had a full night's sleep instead of just getting off work!) this was my first time meeting him, and he did wonderfully as a first time model!
ashley & jon, it was so great to get to know the two of you and play out in the early morning light! God bless you both as you prepare for your marriage in april.:)
