Apologies and Adventures

Remember the days that I blogged at least once a week? Or, I at least attempted to.  It's been faaaaarrrr too long since I've sat at this blank page to write some thoughts and post some photos…so I might owe an explanation. Here goes!

I'm in Jacksonville, Florida for the next month…and I've been here a month already! It's gone so quickly, but let me say, it has been a jam-packed 4.5 weeks of online class/meeting people/catching up with old friends/going out to local eateries/drinking sweet tea/not taking nearly as many photos as I should/reading the Word of God more than normal and less than I'd like/learning so so so much.  I truly wish that more college students were able to experience something as amazing as JAX STP! It's an incredible time of growth, challenging days, and memorable experiences.

It's so late—almost 1 a.m. here, which is our weekend "lights out"—so this post will be far too short and sweet. But I won't leave you without a few photos of my life lately and I'll promise more to come in the weeks ahead:)

ISU College Mini-Sessions || 7 Sweet Gals || Ames, IA Photographer

Sometimes, God surprises you with the best things ever. Isn't He such a wonderful Father like that?! Not even a week ago, I met Annette in a dining center on campus.  We started talking about our love for Turkey, Jesus, and our lives.  When I told her that I was a photographer, she mentioned she and a group of friends had been thinking of getting some photos taken.  Fast forward to Friday afternoon—the first gorgeous day after a week full of cold rain, and I was so blessed to have each of these gals in front of my camera!  It's no secret that each one is beautiful—inside and out—and is living out her life with joy.  I loved the chance to be behind the lens again, and to bless these gals with some photos that they'll hopefully treasure for the years to come!

Weekend-ing || Ledges State Park || Ames, IA Photographer

sometimes, one of your best friends comes to visit for the weekend, and consequentially, all responsibilities are put on hold while time stops and instead you breathe in the vitamin D that your body has lacked for so long. 

windows down in the car, petting strangers' dogs and "parkour!"-ing off of trees work magic to shed the skin of winter from your soul. beautiful creations basking in the beauty of creation—these are snapshots of life.

This gal is full of love and life. These photos are proof of that—it was a freeeezing day in the middle of February and she still let me chase the sunlight for twenty minutes, even though she couldn't move her fingers for at least that long afterwards! Audrey is my roommate this year & one of the greatest parts of this adventure called college is living with her. She's got big dreams and ideas for her future, and I have no doubts that they'll be answered in amazing ways!

Kelsey + Katie | Roommate Session | Iowa State Campus

Before I came to Iowa State, I'd heard stories and seen photos of a gal named Kelsey.  She lived up to my expectations (exceeded them, actually!) and over the course of time I was also introduced to her roommate and live-in-best-friend, Katie J.  These two girls are full of fire & fun!  If you need to laugh, cry, or to do both simultaneously—find these two and you'll be set.  For life.

Kelsey and Katie both love dancing, Jesus, people, laughter, and of course, they both share gorgeous copper locks!  Although it runs in my family, I wasn't gifted with the lovely red hair of my mother, grandmother, and cousins.  But I still believe that I have a little bit of ginger soul in me;) Which comes out even more when I'm around these gals! Haha.  Anyhow, to the point...these photos were taken on an unusually warm day in December around finals, when I needed to get out and shoot.
I love what we captured!
